I am a Web and Application Developer with fifteen years of experience. Since my secondary-school years I have been doing computer repair and development work. Even then it became clear to me that IT (the computer) is only a tool, so I felt it necessary to learn another profession as well. During my engineering studies I encountered a great many problems to which IT had in the meantime provided the solution. Luckily for me, the construction industry went through a major transformation in exactly the last decade. 2D computer drafting was slowly replaced by 3D object-based design, and the later spread of the BIM approach held a great many development opportunities. So I have stayed on ever since, and have become deeply involved in developing CAD plugins and online project management systems that support engineering work.

Interests

Outside working hours I like to be outdoors. I do a lot of hiking; I have already walked more than half of the northern route of the OKT (National Blue Trail). Every year I also go on mountain trips with Via Ferrata routes in the neighbouring countries. Among others, I have climbed Triglav by several routes, and on Rysy and Grossglockner I made it above 3,000 m, where I unfortunately had to turn back due to a lack of equipment.
In bad weather and during winter I spend a lot of time reading, and I often get together with friends to play board games.

I also enjoy manual work; in a hobby project over 2 years I renovated a 50-year-old family house with my own hands. I equally like gardening and growing plants.

Among other things, I am also interested in collecting coins (numismatics) and antique books.

Docker environment

A containerized environment built with Docker Compose. Laravel framework using PHP-8.1-fpm and an Nginx sidecar, with MySQL and Redis database handling. Monitoring is handled by the Morpheus and Graphana systems. The online model viewer runs in a Node container. External access to the server is handled by an Nginx-based reverse proxy.

Website

A multi-tenant ERP and CRM system that grew out of a custom enterprise management system. Written in the Laravel PHP framework. On the landing page, the different subscription packages let us choose the price-to-features ratio that is ideal for us. The system is built modularly, so each user activates only the modules they need.

Sandbox

Familydesk's sandbox. Here everyone can try out what the system offers. The sandbox container restarts periodically and resets to its freshly installed state.

Graphana

The Graphana interface lets you track the state of the server and the Docker containers, as well as the load on the reverse proxy.

Android and iOS mobile app

With the mobile app built for using the Familydesk site, we can manage our data outside the web browser, on a larger usable screen area. In the website settings we can add the desired device to our subscription using a QR code.

Online Model Viewer

For various functions of the website, e.g. Site and Warehouse Inventory, a model can be linked, which is displayed on this server. It communicates with the Familydesk server through a server API interface.

If we want to place a digital wall panel at our Site, this application helps us keep continuous communication with the server available.

Generating custom manufacturing drawings for sprinkler system pipe sections from a Revit model

Drawing the 3D sprinkler pipe network. Using Shared Parameters to tie pipe sections to an area (Level). Using a Schedule to group pipe sections by length/diameter.

Revit Plugin

The plugin automatically reads and fills in the Shared Parameters created for the pipe objects. As a result, the length/diameter grouping is extended with branch count/type/direction properties as well. After grouping, we assign unique pipe section identifiers, which are generated according to a predefined rule. The Schedule is then exported to an Excel-compatible format.

Excel

After the exported Schedule is loaded, the data table has to be formatted into a format the PDF generator can read (fixed column order). Certain parameters have to be transformed using Excel functions to meet the client's requirements.

This application reads the Excel file formatted from the Schedule and, based on the settings given in the dialog window, generates the manufacturing drawings of the pipe sections (one row, one pipe section).

Custom DynDNS solution

DNS service and client IP change tracking

You start to wonder: if you already have a VPS subscription and a domain name, why pay the same amount again for a DynDNS service available on the market? It was in this light that this private-use solution was born.
The only problem was that I could not fit the DynDNS configuration options of the common router manufacturers, but on the Mikrotik devices I use, a simple script gives me a dynamic DNS service running for free under my own domain.

Administration interface

Subdomain names can be created in this administration interface. For every subdomain created, a unique token is generated, which the client uses to log in to the server, where its IP address is updated if it has changed.
If needed, the system is also prepared for multi-user mode, but even then the desired subdomain must be unique across all users.

Enterprise management system

Sole proprietor project

The project is an online system tailored to the needs of a company engaged in animal breeding. A key requirement was a User-Group-Site-System level permission system. Management of animal data. A registry of the company's assets, e.g. cars. A registry of the employees working at its sites, recording of their working hours and generating working-time evaluations. Creating the maintenance tasks required at the sites and tracking the status of each task. Digitizing workflows, e.g. issuing, taking back and transporting animals.

The system also allows keeping a registry of contacts at Person/Company level. Optionally we can also use the Project/Task tracking system, where Effort can also be assigned to the various tasks.

Development and maintenance

I took on this project as a sole proprietor, through an acquaintance, at roughly 50% completion. The website is a service-provider database built on a custom PHP framework. Using the custom framework and its very limited capabilities in many places made continuing the site rather difficult, but, taking economic considerations into account, we decided to keep the system. Further challenges in the project were subscription management and card payment through the Sales Autopilot marketing system, as well as keeping the subscription data in sync. The website has been live for almost 2 years.

Project management solution for working with the Trimble RTS

AutoCAD plugin - Presentation material

This Autodesk AutoCAD plugin is meant to make project management with the Trimble RTS laser easier. The software supplied by the manufacturer for the laser is only suitable for manually placing parameterized points to be staked out in the drawing. With this module we can standardize the fillable parameters at project level and fill in the values. With the Support objects we assembled, we were also able to place stake-out points automatically in groups at the drill-hole locations. Layer-based Session management makes the stake-out work easier, because we can switch the necessary points on and off in groups in the Trimble control software. The plugin had an automatic Grid recognition function, which can be a great help in the on-site localization of points. Instead of an absolute XYZ coordinate, we can see how far the point is from the nearest grid-axis intersection (e.g. B/3).
The AutoCAD drawing can be linked to our Online project manager system. In that case the supports and points created in the drawing also appear on an online interface, where we can track their status and information.

This COM DLL was created to provide communication between custom-developed applications and the company's Online project manager system. With the module we can perform Authentication and execute GET and POST requests. The token received after login can be used at runtime, kept in memory, or saved, in which case it can be valid for up to 1 year. In the project manager's administration interface, tokens can be revoked at any time.
IO.dll has its own InstallShield LE installer, which also registers the COM component during installation. In the installers of the applications built on top of it, this program is defined as a prerequisite.

Revit plugin

In terms of functionality, this program is the implementation of the AutoCAD plugin under Autodesk Revit. Since Revit allows object-based design, certain functionality has to be approached differently or becomes unnecessary. With the built-in functions and parameters, many things that caused big headaches under AutoCAD are solved automatically, e.g. determining grid distances. The more modern environment, however, left plenty of room for new functionality. With the built-in reactors and configurable Shared Parameters, logging and tracking changes is an easier task. At the same time, in Revit, in the absence of layer management, assigning Sessions could only be done through a custom function. When a Revit model is linked to the Online project manager system, a Synchronization function is available, with which the points in the model are synced up to the online interface.

Field Link tablet application

This application was created because, when using our Online project manager system, a problem arose: there was no adequate mobile internet connection at the construction site. Our Field Link tablet application is meant to let us download the current project data in the office and make it available offline, so that it is available at the construction site without problems. The changes made during the day's work can be synced back to the Online interface at the end of the day.
Using the camera built into the Trimble Field Link tablet computer we can take photos of on-site points, and the application also has a QR code reader.

M-Files - Enterprise management system data synchronization

The purpose of this application was to make the M-Files file database used by the company able to access, and stay in sync with, the various types of data in the enterprise management system the company uses, e.g. partners, cars, projects. In the enterprise management system, ticking a checkbox could request that the given item be synchronized into the selectable parameter values in M-Files.

AutoCAD plugin -

This module is the most important part of the project. The program is a plugin for Autodesk AutoCAD, whose purpose is to let us select items from the product catalog and place them in our drawing. The placed objects can then be connected to one another in a guided way using pipes of various types. The created objects can be labelled, and the label reads its parameters from the object, so the chance of user oversight or typos is minimized as well. When our work is finished, with a single click we get the bill of materials grouped, in Excel format.

Online catalog manager - CRM

Among other things, this administration interface was responsible for editing the catalog database, managing the available modules and displaying user statistics. Using the Joomla system's user and group database table, Catalog manager permissions could be assigned to groups. In the Product menu it was possible to create, edit and delete products. A custom online installer that offers and carries out the installation steps depending on the currently running system and software environment. By entering a Serial number, the installer can identify the user, if we want to tie usage to prior registration or payment. At the client's request we chose the Joomla framework for the site used to reach users. It made registration possible, after which we receive our Serial number in the confirmation email. Logged-in users could also download the online installer from here.

This AutoCAD plugin was created to make it easier to manage modifications and drawing errors when producing DWG drawings. With the program we could produce a PDF report on every issue, and on request a ticket was also created on the connected online interface, where project participants can track the status of the issues.

AutoCAD plugin

CadWatt 2.0 was the further development of the first version of CadWatt, with a complete architectural switch from the Lisp programming language to the Autodesk ObjectARX C++ environment. This opened up entirely new dimensions for development. Storing the extra data of objects (Wall, Floor, etc.) as Block Parameters was replaced with custom Objects, and the use of MFC dialog windows delivered a vastly better user experience for the users.
In this version, the thermal (heat-loss) sizing was extended with hydraulic sizing as well.

Installer

For this project only a standard installer made with the InstallShield LE installer builder was available. The installer contained the plugins compiled for the compatible AutoCAD versions and the base database. Customizing the user profile was possible through the Manager application created as part of the program.

The application was designed with a modular structure. Every user needed to register on the application's main page. In this case that was a Joomla site. The subscribed modules were attached to the Serial number the user received at registration. The thermal sizing was free, but the hydraulic sizing module required credit-based daily activation. This way the user only paid when they had a radiator heating design commission. Using the VirtueMart module of the Joomla site, credit packages could be purchased. The license server provided an interface for the plugins running in AutoCAD to use these credits.

System administration tasks

Operating the IT system at the Nijmegen office of a Dutch-Hungarian recruitment agency. Operating Windows-based user machines and Windows Server, with Active Directory and MS Exchange email. The office also engaged in webshop trade: perfumes and products for 18+ audiences. Operating the web services of these, hosted at an external hosting provider, was also part of my duties.

Webshop maintenance and development

The company operated several webshops, which ran on the WooCommerce module built on the WordPress framework. Part of the maintenance process was the programmatic updating of prices and product availability based on periodic supplier price lists, as well as integrating the products of new suppliers into the system. With smaller Asian suppliers especially, this often meant running a custom program through the supplier's website, but in the lucky case they could provide their product catalog for import. For the efficient operation of the webshop, developing and fine-tuning small WordPress modules was often necessary.

Online building services system monitoring web pages

Receiving and handling data, statistics

The goal of the project was to collect information from building services systems using a custom PLC and display it on an online interface. Such data included e.g. outdoor temperatures, the heat pump systems' flow and return temperatures, the domestic hot water temperature, etc...
The PLC sent the available values in UDP packets to a given address, which had to be caught on the web server and stored in a database.
By monitoring/logging this data and evaluating it, the return on investment in such a system could be demonstrated even to laypeople.

Pálinka distillery and training center

The subject of my diploma thesis is a Pálinka Distillery and Training Center on a vacant plot not far from the Gödöllő campus of Szent István University. The building has three functions: the pálinka distillery, which is located in the rear hall section of the building, as well as a two-classroom training center and a tasting house, which are located in the front section of the building.

In the construction management part, I had to design the building's Site organization plan, Schedule and Resource allocation.

Mechanics

For the mechanics part, I chose to design the five-support reinforced concrete beam in the first section of the distillery. It was not the simplest task I could have chosen, but I prefer working on engineering design tasks like this to design as such. That is also why I chose the Building Structures Designer specialization.
